Help with Issues of Accessibility

Our religious values affirm our belief in the inherent worth and dignity of every person. Our faith calls us to remove all barriers to persons with disabilities in our congregations. The charge of the Metro NY District's Committee on Accessibilities (COA) is to evaluate accessibility barriers in our congregations and report to the Board, to serve as a sounding board and reference source for congregational leaders, and to set goals for the District to work toward in achieving full accessibility. Removing barriers so that all may enter and fully participate in our congregations is a social justice issue.

Rosemarie Newberry is the current chair of the COA. She invites you to contact her with concerns and ideas pertaining to accessibility. You can reach Rosemarie at 732-741-7849 or be email (click icon):

Equual Access provides accessibility guidelines addressing the inclusion of all people in congregation life. Equual Access was created to promote equality and access for UUs with disabilities, through coalition building, education, creation of policies, and empowerment.

Guided by our living faith, the Unitarian Universalist District of Metropolitan New York exists to be a source of connection and transformation for our congregations and our larger world.
